'Why are Sindh's Hindus disappearing?'
Staff Report

KARACHI: Hindus are being kidnapped and abducted more and more frequently across the province so much so that the opposition in the Sindh Assembly decided to hold a press conference at the assembly on the issue Wednesday.

At least one Hindu kidnapping takes place each month, said Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Mukesh Kumar. There were three abductions in Kashmore alone over three months. These disappearances have scared Hindus and other minorities.

For example, a five-year-old girl Tanosha was kidnapped from Kashmore six months ago and five days ago 28-year-old Pawan also similarly disappeared.

Opposition Leader in the Sindh Assembly Nisar Khuhro backed these assertions and criticized the Arbab Rahim-led provincial government. He said that the administration was incompetent and had not protected Hindus.

Sindh Assembly to meet Wed: Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah has convened an assembly session on March 21 on a requisition filed by the opposition.

Lawmakers belonging to the Pakistan Peoples Party-Parliamentarians (PPP-P) submitted the requisition last Friday soon after Shah prorogued the last session. The previous session had also been convened on a requisition by the opposition members but had failed to take up the main items mentioned in it - the alleged rigging of the bye-elections in Karachi and Kotri on February 10 and an attack on PPP MNA Dr. Azra Pechooho. This is what the opposition wishes to discuss at the next session. The controversy of the non-functional chief justice, Ifikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, is also likely to dominate the upcoming session.
