Ashok Malik on the 'Cold Horror' of Nandigram

If the Page does not open go to www.dailypioneer.com --> Columnists --> Ashok Malik and look for the column entitled "Narad among the Narodniks"

A very well written piece indeed. Malik unveils the Marxist doublespeak in inimitable prose. Much will be written about Nandigram, but I disagree that it is an "inflexion point" - the Commies will keep rigging the elections. Even if they do not, there are too many illegal Bangladeshis in West Bengal for the commies to be voted out.

From the Parmhans and Vivekananda, Bipin Chandra and thence Shri Aurobindo, the sweet land of Bangla was once at the forefront of India's intellectual ferment. How the mighty have fallen!!!!!!

Worse, party insiders in Nandigram confirm that most of those killed in Wednesday’s police firing may have been CPM’s own men — a fact which the party cannot officially admit.

Mamata Banerjee did not claim throughout the day that the dead were her supporters. She had repeatedly used words like “common people” and “villagers” instead, which Buddhadeb detractors within the CPM doubt she would have said had the dead indeed been her party supporters
