that cricket world cup: bangladesh beat india. this is not surprising, as the indian team consists of a bunch of over-the-hill losers, including cricket's own j. nehru (severely overrated, lionized beyond all sense).
i read that there are several combinations and permutations that will allow india to get through to the next round, that is if sri lanka beats somebody and then bangladesh hits so many and so on and so forth. this is so inane. why can't these people just play and win?
there are only two ways the indian team can accomplish progress:
1. the team plays well. but this is impossible, given that the team is chosen not for competence, but to satisfy various satraps. it wont work unless there are disincentives and incentives. for instance, i liked the disincentive for the losing pakistani coach -- he was mudered. the indian team bozos should be given similar disincentives. you lose matches, you lose body parts. that would solve the problem pronto, and these guys will be out there applying themselves fielding and batting and bowling like their lives depended on it (which in fact they would).
[BTW, this business of poisoning people is an old ISI/CIA trick. i continue to think that poor dewang mehta of NASSCOM was poisoned, because he was such a brilliant marketer. well, if you want conspiracy theories, isn't it eerie that various people who were doing good for india have been bumped off in mysterious circumstances -- homi bhabha and vikram sarabhai leap to mind. yes, especially anyone in the nuclear and missile areas.]
2. the collective indian fan base decides that india is going to win. thus if india is knocked out, nobody watches the remaining games, and the advertisers and channels lose major bucks. in fact, i think this is happening already. therefore, it is in the interests of all concerned to drag india along somehow, so the matches will be fixed accordingly. there's just too much money at stake. yeah, the game of glorious certainties! i had predicted before that india will get all the way to the finals just for the ad revenue.
therefore, i predict that that bunch of idiots (the india team -- although i'll say i am partial to a couple of guys like rahul dravid) will somehow reach the finals, just so that the 90% of the money for this idiotic game that comes from india can be exploited.

Since you predict so many things, may I remind you about your prediction about the indian economy when UPA govt took office in 2004. I heard that these days crow is your favorite food.
Cricket is like mass opium- you know its corrosive, makes you a junk body, is sold by rich and greedy vendors and it arouses fake passions, and yet you cannot avoid chewing it.
For many, a cricket match is the opportunity to parade their pedestrian patriotism. Thieves, gropers, kidnappers, and the decadent- they all use it to bandy about their morphia patriotism. If you combine this with beer, starters and deep-arsed yells in an uptown bar, I heard it gives you superb kicks.
A major chunk of the ICC's revenue is on India's entry into the super 8. So , accordingly the predictions are
1. Sri Lanka throws their match with India
2. Bangladesh throws their match with Bermuda
3. India can't make it to super 8 and Greg Chappell commits suicide
BTW, it seems Bob Woolmer was strangulated or poisoned or something. Match fixing mafia is suspected. This tournament is a farce.

Although rajeev has been known to be wrong in the past abt somethings (like India's economic growth after 2004),he is right about cricket. The Indian has not performed to a desirable level esp. given the amount of money and adulation that is lavished on these overrated cricketers.

Cricket is the reason why India sucks at all other sports.. No other sportsman gets any credit and pretty much all of them starve to death (including state level cricketers)..
Indian Cricket is horribly mismanaged by one of the world's richest but most corrupt and inefficient boards , the BCCI where nepotism is the order of the day. There is no incentive to reform the BCCI because a billion dumb Indians would continue to follow this charade (a.k.a cricket), irrrespective of India's loss or victories.. The poor Indian fan, unable to grasp the meaningless nature of the game, then vents his anger on Dhoni's houses, or effigies of Tendulkar and Ganguly...
This game needs to be banned or the revenues confiscated and distributed if Indian sports in general has to see any improvement.
Olympic golds is what a billion strong India needs not meaningless and match fixed cricket world cups..

the UPA inherited tremendous momentum coming in. it takes some time to destroy that momentum, and they are working on it, esp. chidambaram. inflation is on a tear. montek singh ahluwalia (head of the govt's economic think tank) said recently that he recommended slowing down growth to control inflation. the results of this, and the budget, will soon be seen in slowing growth rates.
it's like turning a battleship around: it takes a while, but once the course is set, it doesn't deviate for some time. i still predict that by the time the UPA is kicked out, they would have brought the economy back to its knees, back to the nehruvian rate of growth of 2-3%.
btw, i find it amusing that people get upset about my views on cricket. blind faith in that pseudo-religion, indeed. cricketism needs to be added to the list of neo-semitic ideologies, along with 'dravidianism', marxism, ambedkarism, etc.
