Gwadar Port Inaugurated

Pakistan's Gwadar Port, built with Chinese assistance, has now commenced operation. As a natural deep-water port, it's well-suited for docking heavy ships. Now the infrastructure has been built to accommodate this. The growth of this port will re-shape the region, and feed China's economic growth. Soon China will have India surrounded on all sides. Musharraf also announced that Pakistan will built another port in Sonmiani, which is also in Baluchistan 160km west of Karachi.

The Atlanticists must also be pleased, since now they can route EU trade with China through Gwadar, completely bypassing Russia's trans-Siberian railway lines.

It's other significance is that in the long run Pakistan has now chosen China over the United States. I would not write India of so soon - we have a decent navy, but need more investment (Moron PM please note)
Though, it's never a good thing to be someone's client state - this partnership may yet prove to be more durable for Pakistan .
The Yanks will give up on the Pakis when their tactical objectives are met, the Chinese have a longer interest in them as India is unlikely to die out soon. The only question for Pakistan would be what if China collapsed? On the flip side the question for the Chinese is what if Pakistan uses this new financial leverage to dream up holy 'true faith' ideas in Sinkiang.

'Surrounded on all sides' -- are we going to fight wars based on 19th century technology.

I assume that within a decade or so, India will have sea and air-based launched cruise missiles that can take out any port in Pakistan, China, Sri Lanka or even Australia.

Also, the Chinese have long had ICBMs that could devastate any Indian city.

A cynic might even argue that Gwadar makes it easier for India to strike at China's economy.

This is Musharraf's Take That to all those who were writing his eulogy after he eliminated Baloch leader Bughti few months back.

That's the difference between having a spine, a killer instinct and aggression and being spineless cowards always reacting never acting.

Wow, a Mushie worhsipper who thinks that Mushie has a 'spine' and 'killer instinct'.

Just for the record, Pakistan is a failed state that is forced to have its territory occupied by China, the U.S., and various Saudi princes.

Just be he wears a uniform and can have civilians killed doesn't give him a 'spine'
