there's more to the newsweek article than the 'slip of the tongue' or whatever they are characterizing the 'hindu fanatics bombed the jama masjid' story as. it shows shekhar gupta as having not even a shred of decency.
1. he repeats the blood libel about gujaratis that i talked about before, and their demonization. for the longest time in india, a) the RSS has been demonized; b) the brahmins have been demonized. so killing an RSS person is just fine; for many people, killing brahmins is also considered just fine. now it's the turn of gujaratis; this will soon be generously expanded to cover any hindu. this sort of broad and undifferentiated demonization is pure racism. the ELM and in particular the marxists therein are totally racist.
2. interestingly, he says "on the other side, hindu fanatics" etc. what he is doing is a) fabricating something about hindu 'fanatics' bombing the jama masjid, and b) then using that to equate that 'bombing' with the mumbai bombings. [Does he, or Newsweek, actually say "on the other side" in the print edition? it's not in the online edition now]
ergo, it was *not* a simple editorial error. gupta's *point* was that it is not only mohammedans who do bombings, see, hindu 'fanatics' do too.
if gupta didn't actually say this, it's courtesy some mohammedan or marxist fanatic who wrote the thing for newsweek, just as those at CNN and the BBC routinely distort the news.
3. when he equates the eid and diwali bombings, he neglects to say that the bombings were timed at dusk when no mohammedan would be out there in the shops, but would be indoors eating. he gives the impression that both mohammedans and hindus were targeted. they were not. only the hindus were targeted.

You have already commented on this, from one of the pontiffs of National Treachery, sorry, Indian secularism:
Opinion: A Cause for Comfort
The bombers failed in their goal—to foment violence between Hindus and Muslims.
By Shekhar Gupta
Newsweek International
Gupta is editor-in-chief of the Indian Express newspaper.
Etc.
Note that in Gupta's Safari Park, "Canned Secular Shoots" feature the Hindu Gujarati Baniya as a trophy for, quoth he:
"Last week's bombings targeted middle-class Mumbai. Most of the people who ride in "first-class" train compartments in the city come from traditional business communities. They are upper-caste Hindu—and also, largely, Gujarati. That's important, for the large-scale killing of Muslims in Mumbai's neighboring western state of Gujarat, in 2001, is a blot on India's democracy, and a permanent scar in the minds of Muslims. There is nothing terrorists want more than to rekindle that same madness. A Hindu-Muslim riot damages India as nothing else can."
See, Gujaratis kill Mohammedans during a riot, and that "explains" recurring violence against them by Mohammedans until the Day of Judgement, presumably because of the "mental scars" that other Gujaratis inflicted on the ultra-sensitive psyche of the Ummah. A worthy pupil of Christians hounding Jews for "deicide" (one of those deliciously oxymoronic Chrisitan coinages) over two millenia and counting, this Gupta!
Wait, this gets better. Here's outright fabrication:
"On the other side, in April Hindu fanatics bombed the Jama Masjid, the stately 17th-century mosque in old Delhi that is an abiding symbol of Islam in the Subcontinent."
A minor and inconvenient fact. The investigators apprehended 4 suspects. To quote from Gupta's own newspaper, the Indian Express:
"The agencies were exploring the possibility of finding some links with Abdul Karim Tunda's gang as the chemical composition -- potassium chlorate and sulphur mixed with acid -- was used by him during the 1997 blasts in the national capital."
Wow! Abdul Karim Tunda must be a Hindu! After all, did not Gandhi chant with secular alliteration, Ram-Rahim, Krishna-Karim?
But I suspect a more basic reason is that, given the kind of "information" Gupta usually spews, he is naturally wary of trusting news that he publishes in his own rag. Maybe the hapless readers of the Indian Express should follow suit.

Folks this is what happens when you buy into Christism and 2006 years of dogma.
You end up depressed, drunk and reveal what you really are all about
The thing that is truly magnificent is to see how the Jewis community nailed the bastard for his arrogance. I guess they don't have a lot of Pankaj Mishra 's in their midst.
If this article of Shekhar Gupta's is not hate-mongering what is? Has the government banned IE yet? Or blanked shekhar Gupta's articles as they did in emergency? Let us write letters for ban of IE.
