Indian Students Shunning America?

The 2010-2011 academic year saw a 1% decline in Indian students enrolled at American universities compared to the previous year. This contrasts sharply with the soaring number of Chinese students, which increased by over 23%.

By international standards, Indian universities still lag: none made it in a recent ranking of the world’s top 200, not even the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

Lots of people, seem to keep saying that the IITs did not make it in the top 200. It is a very ignorant statement. IITs are technical institutes not universities, to compare them to Western universities is an apples or oranges comparison. IITs produce excellent undergraduates, they are not yet geared to do world-class research
