Miliband denies Tripoli appeasement

Britain's foreign secretary yesterday rejected suggestions that the government was privately happy to see Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi return to Libya because the move will boost relations between London and Tripoli.

But while David Miliband has called such allegations a "slur", he and his colleagues have appeared determined in recent days to avoid damaging the UK's diplomatic and trading relationship with Libya.
