India no match for China, says Navy chief

aug 10th 2009

just in time for independence day.

self-fulfilling prophesy: jawahar said india didn't need an army, only a police force. of course, as a chinese province india will not need an army, as china will take care of it.

India no match for China, says Navy chief

Rahul Singh, Hindustan Times

New Delhi, August 11, 2009

Should war break out between India and China, we are doomed.

Navy chief Admiral Sureesh Mehta publicly admitted on Monday that India was no match for China and there was no way New Delhi could bridge the yawning gap in its capabilities against China.

This is not the kinda language a Defence chief is supposed to use. What can happen to the morale of the forces! I just hope this is concocted.

Fire this POS,
The last thing that India needs is an open invitation to the Chinese to invade us.
"Foolhardy to compare the two nations as equals",huh? Of course in the economy since the PRC has a 15 year head start, naturally it would be very pathetic if we both were equals.
And if,as the article mentions if "little is known on PRC capabilities", how come in a war "we will be doomed". Way to go POS navy "chief", great way to build up troop morale. Maybe we should grovel at the feet of our new Chinese massas and plead with them not to invade us.

I had some respect for him after he confronted Ms Barka Dutt of Nehru Dynasty TV.

What on earth is he saying? If what he says is true, we are doomed.

same thoughts as shankar / patil. this man must be mad. in the u.s. / british defense forces, seniort officers could get sacked for making a statement like this (in public at least).

First Bharat Verma said it and now this. Could it be that Indian Govt is preparing itx citizens for this eventuality.

He is retiring - so he can speak the truth that other high officials wouldn't dare to. So, face the reality and don't cause trouble. Ask the Tibetan-Indians to become Indian citizens if they continue to stay in India. Let them forget about independence and "genuine autonomy". Otherwise, the day will come when the Tibetan-Indians will seek independence for Tawang, Dharamsalem and Lakdah. Make sure they become loyal Indian citizens!

i dont think india will have to 'cause trouble'. your uighurs and mongols and tibetans have shown how fragile your empire is. also you'll soon have han-upon-han acrimony. the time for empires is long gone, so today's communist empire will go the same way as the ming and the manchu: into oblivion. china will soon be back to a rump han state as the 2/3 of its landmass that belongs to uighurs, tibetans and mongols all frees itself from han tyranny.

Surely, this is wishful thinking from the citizen of a weak, ninny state!

Surely china is one big blind spot for the owners of this blog, specially Rajiv. They have the same feelings for it, what Pakis have for India :-> Awe, envy, complex etc.

Two years back I was flamed by the blog owners for saying the same thing what Suresh Mehta said few days back.

We have to resign ourselves to the fact that we are helpless against china.

He didn't say anything infactual - maybe he's pointing fingers are our corrupt leaders. China's Navy and Air Force have massive qualitative and quantitative advantage over us plus they can count on their whore Pakistan to do its part. It is a depressing statement but not far from truth. Scary part is that our leaders can bribed to back away from pressing the N-Button if there's a need.

agworld, surely we could help the uighurs and tibetans to nudge along the collapse of the chinese empire. but i agree, that would only happen if we had leaders with cojones.

tambidude, i don't have awe or envy for china, how about just plain old-fashioned hatred? not good enough? and if pak can attempt to destabilize india, why can't india attempt to destabilize china? good for goose, good for gander, etc.? i have been arguing for a grand anti-chinese alliance -- all their neighbors hate them -- with japan, vietnam, russia etc, for a long time. this will be necessary to contain the evil hans.

sage, china's navy is relatively weak cf. india's. but they are building massively and will soon overtake india. they want to control the indian ocean.

Talk about destabilizing China? Before you try that, stabilize your own India empire first. You have more separatist, racial, tribal, and religious problems than China. And your Marxist guerillas and insurgents are fighting in half the land mass of all-India. The Tibetan-Indians will be another source of problems for you after the death of the Dalai Lama - probably the last of the line of the Dalai Lamas - when China is all out to prove to the world that he is totally impotent and powerless as a "god".
