i once had a brief correspondence with jacques. when i accused him of being cravenly pro-chinese, he told me his indian wife had been basically murdered at a chinese hospital because they wouldn't give her any medical attention because of racism. yet he thinks they are the cat's whiskers. much like krishna menon, jawahar, et al used to.
