Obama may or may not be the god that he is projected to be. But he is surrounded by vicious India-Hating lunatics like Zbig & Madeleine Albright who are his foreign policy advisors. India needs to be very wary of them. They would like nothing better than completing the unfinished agenda of destroying India. If you think USA intervening militarily in India's affairs is far-fetched, remember the 78 day bombing campaign on
Kosovo unleashed by Clinton.

Multiple points to make:
-If US tries to renew intervention in Kashmir, and it inevitably causes a rise in terrorism (remember massacre of Sikhs in J&K during Clinton's visit?) then India should put troops back on the LOC. This will force Pak to shift troops towards us and away from NWFP. This will free up Taliban to attack US troops.
-Iran is approaching the threshold of nuclearization, and Obama will be forced to make a decision on them. He will either have to bomb the hell out of them, or else see them become a nuclear power, which will erode US power in the Middle East. Either way, he'll have to keep a friendly India onside, regardless of which path he takes.
The gathering momentum of the Iran problem will give us more leverage.
-If Zbig tries to take a tougher line against Russia, then it may help to tilt the Russians towards us. We should make the Americans understand that if they give us the cold shoulder, we have other alternative relationships. When oil prices were at their peak, the Russians got a lot of swagger. Even towards us, they kept a hard line on that Gorshkov carrier sale price. Now that oil prices are considerably lower, the Russians are being brought back down to earth, and we'll have more leverage with them.
-Look East policy. The Asia That Can Say No. If Obama starts veering into protectionism at the expense of India and rest of Asia, then Asians will have to rally together. Even China could see fit to make common cause with us.
