the surplus men in asia

nov 2nd, 2007

if amartya sen came up with this idea of 'missing women', chances are that it is bull-hickey too,  just like the 'kerala model'. and similar to the big scare about how aids was going to wipe out the indian economy.

but i think there's truth to the idea that lots of woman-less men are bad for the economy and especially bad for the chances of war, because they will be restless and uncontrollable.

as i have said before, china will need to go to war to kill off its surplus of 30 million men, not to mention the surplus, unemployable 200 million people who have been displaced from its farms and cannot find any work anywhere. if india has lots of surplus men, hey, we'll go to war too. pakistan with its population growing at over 3% a year due to uncontrolled breeding, and china with its 30 million sex-starved men, will be likely to attack india.

since we are discussing war here is an article on the four generations of warfare - especially since we are going to continue fighting 4th gen in our part of the world for a long time to come.

The Four Generations of Modern War

The archives are also quite good - I would just skip over the political views and concentrate on the stuff that could be learned

a lot of the 4th gen warfare stuff is at http://www.d-n-i.net/
