very interesting conference on food/security

nov 11th, 2008

http://www.cissa.co.in/Annam_Festival.pdf

'annam', on food, in trivandrum dec 28-31. conveniently timed for all
the wintering migrants from america :-)

there has been, as mentioned before on this blog, a 'slow-food'
festival in san francisco over labor day, and that's when i got to
know something about that whole movement. vandana shiva is an
articulate spokesperson for this, and she's involved in the trivandrum
program as well.

i am glad someone's doing something about food issues. we need to go
back to traditional agricultural practices. see what i said in the
slides on 'india's creative genius' (it's on rajeev.posterous.com)

the cissa folks seem to be paying attention to other key issues like
energy security as well.

any reader of this blog who has any first-hand experience of this group?

Yeah, the games are afoot. And I see a correlation with what Rajeev mentioned about them discarding Georgia's Saakashvili:

Like I said, it's Brzezinski's tendency to stabilize the areas near his precious Polish motherland, to avoid any war and suffering there, while meanwhile aggressively attacking the Russian enemy on its distant flank in SouthAsia, safely far away from precious Poland.

Right now the NATO membership are meeting to try and push for expansion to include Ukraine (they're ignoring Georgia, as a sacrificial pawn)
They want to increase their buffer against Russia on the European front, while trying to re-establish the aggressive jihad game against Russia back in SouthAsia.

They also hope to get Obama to reverse a lot of Bush presidential directives on impromptu raids/kidnappings against terrorists in foreign countries.

I am a regular reader and have first hand experience CISSA activities. I had participated in one of their programs on Chikungunya and many of my colleagues have participated in their various workshops. Few of the people are known to me and members of Vagbhata Sarani/ Swadeshi Science Congress/Vijnana Bharatahu. It is a committed group of successful professionals with strong social responsibility. You may contact Dr. Gangadharan (one of the founders) vaidya.ganga@frlht.org if you want to know more about them. Dr. Indulal, Coimbatore
