savings in india

nov 9th, 2008

http://angrybear.blogspot.com/2005/06/international-saving-comparisons.html

this is data from 2003: see how the household savings in india are
comparable to the highest in the world at about 24%. but the
government only adds another 4% to it -- and that too under the BJP.

with the kkkangress in place, and p chidambaram and manmohan singh and
sonia nehru feathering their nests and giving away lots of pork-barrel
funds to kkkangress cadres, i suspect the numbers will show negative
savings by the government.

it's probably: household savings -- 35%
gross national savings -- 15%

at the present time, ie the government is stealing 20% of what the
poor public saves.

and of course the current account is minus 3% or so. but that's partly
because of investment coming in and partly thanks to our good friends
the arabs jacking up oil prices. the current account deficit will
obviously grow worse as exports begin to trend down.
