China Hacks Whitehouse, Obama, McCain
Apparently, sophisticated hacking attacks emanating from China have successfully penetrated the Whitehouse, as well as computers from the Obama and McCain campaigns. This is why e-voting isn't such a great idea, imho.

As far as I know, the Electronic voting system in India is different: the results recorded in each machine are not transmitted over a network, but are directly fed into a larger computer. Therefore, the vulnerability to hacking by an outsider is almost zero. Please correct me if I am wrong.
yes, I happened to read the difference between Indian and US EVMs on the net. Each EVM is independent, the results are stored in it and are later used for counting. This is very essential esp when we have cases of booth capturing incidents in some remote places.

Electronic devices can be tampered with, even without accessing them via a network. Paper machines offer a better audit trail. Indian electoral goondas are not above hiring some tech-savvy types to help them perpetrate fraud.
my belief is that the indian evms are in fact tampered with. i agree with san. as a lifelong IT industry guy, i don't trust computers. paper is a lot better. it is easy to fix evms in untraceable ways.
sameer, nice try, and thanks, but just a little off. it is kingiNi kuttan, and the translation actually says in malayalam koottaan. koottaan means 'curry', while kuttan means 'kid' (and also in jail terminology, a kuttan is some thug's prison 'girlfriend', if you know what i mean. i believe the same terminology is used by malabar mohammedans for their um... young male friends. they do follow in the footsteps of the afghans and arabs when it comes to boy-chicks).
