on this day, the maharaja of travancore threw open all hindu temples to every hindu in his state.
this was an epoch-making event, directly attributable to sri narayana guru's influence, as well as the vaikom satyagraha.
very interesting contrast between this event and what is happening in kandhamal in orissa.
1936: there was caste conflict in kerala; the hindus solved it amicably by reforming the system. no violence, no loss of life.
2008: there is caste conflict in orissa; the christists solve it by shooting all the hindus. see, no problem.
