jawaharlal was not noticeably fond of chilluns.
so why is his birthday considered to be chilluns' day?
i am told it is because he had lots of chilluns as he was bonking anything in a sari or skirt that came his way. even a sannyasini.
not knowing which chilluns was his, he decided to celebrate his birthday as all chilluns' day.
it is also a friend's birthday. i used to tease her mercilessly about it. what a shame, like poor t r jawahar saddled with the name.

I think this business of JL Nehru bonking all and sundry females is a myth propagated by his interested admirers: see, what a macho guy he was? That sort of stuff. I know a guy who saw this JL guy up close in the hill station of Manali in the late 1950s. He says he was expecting some larger than life figure (the media was very, very kind to him). Contrary to expectations JLN turned out to be weedy little runt with deep yellow nicotine stains on his fingers. What could the ladies have seen in him, I wonder?
