there were some thampu sock-puppets commenting on a previous post on this blog, kk. i thought their posts were very revealing, especially the one by zorba. he says that thampu basically does whatever he pleases, the constitution and the laws be damned. that is, he takes advantage of the constitutional provision for 'minority' institutions to run a personal fiefdom-cum-conversion empire. in that case he likes the constitution. but when he wants to give harijan converts special rights, which the constitution forbids, he goes ahead. in that case he doesn't like the constitution.
