go to kerala and it'll make you weep. thousands and thousands of acres of paddy fields lying fallow, and eventually being converted to residential property, because it costs too much to plant rice. thanks to the communists, rice cultivation is no longer economical in kerala!
if you are an idiot and go ahead and plant anyway, you wont be able to harvest, because neither will the laborers come, nor will they allow harvesting machines to be used! a few weeks ago, summer showers ruined rs. 2000 crores worth of standing rice crop!
