Rajat Gupta's little faux pas: insider trading

mar 3rd, 2011 CE

not that i am worried about mckinsey's reputation -- they are big enough boys and can take care of themselves -- but it is generally a shame that such a well-respected indian is seen as being involved in seriously shady deals. galleon's rajaratnam (though he's a sri lankan, technically) has probably given plenty of rednecks enough reason to suspect indians. now rajat gupta's little indiscretion will add fuel to that particular fire.

no sympathy here. mckinsey makes money by advising governments to rob people. they advise both dictators and democracies alike. the advise is always the same. rob people and give them a share of the loot.

It seems like a witch hunt against successful Indians, Rajaratnam is for all practical purposes Indian. There are much bigger fish doing worse things but only these guys are being hounded.

Matt Taibbi is salivating about this now. Let's see if they can get some white guys who matter.

they did get some white guys: bernie madoff and allen stanford. so please stop complaining and stop identifying yourself with rajat gupta just because he happens to be indian. did you read about what rajat gupta did? he called up rajaratnam minutes after the board meeting and gave information leading to trades. i do not think there should be any laws related to insider trading, but whatever it is, such laws exist and he violated them.

remember that they also went after arthur anderson and enron. so don't complain. mckinsey has played dirty by advising dictators on how to manage their PERSONAL WEALTH. sure, it is all secret as per their culture.

@Arvind

I am not being sympathetic. I was trying to be sarcastic. 'Gupta' is a dalal in a suit and that particular gene is not recessive.

The ones you mention are not the ones that really matter. Try Soros, Blankfein, Buffet, Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Greenspan etc.

My worry is the same as Rajeev's and that is that they will get Indian scumbags who matter before they get white scumbags who matter, and then label all Indians as such.
