i just love it. 'global giants == us, china, india'. this has become accepted wisdom. this is the biggest achievement of the last five years. of course, manmohan singh wants to bring back the old india-pak-equal-equal equation, which is why he is so eager to embrace musharraf. (much like chidambaram wants to bring back the nehruvian rate of growth).
thanks be to old tom friedman and his breathless flat world ideas. (deeply ironic that the atlanticist and extremely anti-india nytimes has contributed so much to the cause of india's propaganda via friedman!)
whereas the chinese view of the world (remember those colorful "new yorker view of the world" type maps?) is:
superpower of the day: us
superpower of the future: china
lord and master of the universe of the future: china
despised neighbors whose land china will take: russia, india
minor irritants: japan, india, vietnam
best poodle: pakistan
poodle-in-the-making: bangladesh
good pals: north korea, sudan, iran, libya (or any other mohammedan or other dictator state)
boy, they have a few surprises coming to them, don't they? long live the indo-japanese-vietnamese-russian-american axis to contain china.
