Yeah, after I read Tesla's announcement about their new Powerwall product, similar thoughts occurred to me too, and I was going to do a write-up on it. Once again, India has to rely on technological band-aids to "crowd-source" a solution to its infrastructural deficiencies, due to the fact that it can't build powerplants like everybody else does. Another reminder of the rather pathetic state of affairs in the country.
Crowd-sourced band-aids is exactly the right description. Let this government first explore coal and hydro to meet the urgent needs of the very poor of this country, rather than criminally wasting money on renewables that are subsidised in more ways than the general public can ever be aware of.
The PE backed wind and solar lobby, whose only avocation is to eat government subsidies and repatriate all profits to tax havens has been up to a lot of mischief lately, with arguments for import parity as a principle for coal and gas coming up time and again, essentially to prove that these sources are economically unviable.
OK, so Elon Musk has come up with a new battery for homes, and plenty of Indians are excited about its potential.
But what about Elon Musk's quest for a much bigger prize - WIRELESS TRANSMISSION OF ELECTRICITY?
Recently, Musk contributed a million dollars to the Tesla museum to take control of Tesla's papers, and probably propel research into wireless transmission of electricity, forward.
The question is - since the idea for wireless transmission of electricity was given by Swami Vivekananda to Nicola Tesla, as indicated in the link above, shouldn't Hindus educated both in their tradition, and modern scientific method , be the ones to conduct further research on this subject, rather than leave it to Elon Musk , & his (probably) Jewish team.
I wonder if this grand announcement by Musk about his new battery is just a distraction, while he chases a potential gamechanger - WIRELESS TRANSMISSION OF ELECTRICITY!
