TRUST INDIA TO PICK THE VERY WORST CHOICES. east asia forum on india's foreign policy in the asian century.

mar 25th, 2012 CE

india needs to be:

a) a chanakyan state that plays off the other two major powers against each other, instead of aligning with one permanently. the parable of the monkey, the cats, and the chapati in the panchatantra is the right metaphor. the monkey ends up eating most of the chapati while the two cats bicker over the fair division of the chapati

b) plotting how it can get itself into the driver's seat in a sort-of 'Third Front' of states that don't trust either the US or china; in other words get them to ALIGN WITH INDIA

c) thinking of how to impose pax indica in the indian ocean between hormuz and malacca

of course, none of these things will ever be done by the powers-that-be.
