astonishing: india almost beat france (france!) in the olympics in 1952!

compare this to today, when india cannot win cricket matches that are not fixed.

conjecture: indians are too darn individualistic, and cannot do team sports. the only world-class indian players are in chess, billiards, boxing, maybe badminton and tennis.
