In most parts of India, Ghee is considered good for the brain and for the heart. America's low fat craze coincided with an alarming increase in obesity rates.

The timing of this announcement is a bit suspicious. Statins are the blockbuster drugs of the pharma industry, and the FDA has come out with its statement just as the generics are replacing the brand names. I get the feeling one or more of the big pharma houses is going to announce a new family of drugs in the near future to replace statins, and this is just part of the strategy to enable those new drugs to gain significant marketshare upon entry. Anyone really think the FDA is beyond the influence of big pharma?
