italy is one of the flailing PIIGS (portugal, italy, ireland, greece, spain) that are on the verge of sovereign default.
note that three of the five are former imperial powers (yes, even italy had its empire in, say, ethiopia).
my contention is that europe cannot retain its prosperity without its colonies. these are resource-poor nations that have been able to boost their standards of living primarily because they were able to loot colonies. now they are coming back to earth.
however, i am waiting till after mar 17th (piravam by-election). after that, i suspect that the indian side will cave in.

The Indian government will definitely cave in. India does not have leaders who can stand up to Europeans, or Americans, or Chinese, or Arabs, or anyone else. Thanks to the aussie cricketing icon Greg Chappell for making it clear to us....

"The Poms (British) taught them really well to keep their head down. For if someone was deemed to be responsible, they'd get punished. So the Indians have learned to avoid responsibility. So before taking responsibility for any decisions, they prefer not to," Chappell was quoted as saying during a promotional event for his book 'Fierce Focus'
