Bio-fules and food prices - cars or rice?

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/15/business/worldbusiness/15food.html?ref=worldbusiness
The 'developed countries' will be content at screwing their ecology to run their cars - India needs to throw more research dollars on solar and alternative bio-fuels (especially the ones made from husk and other agri-waste).

And we need to stop using good agricultural land in Bengal for industrial manufacturing. India has a 5000 year patrimony in concepts like zero-budget farming. The more I think of the food crisis - the more the solution self-evident. Eating locally grown, organic (preferably vegetarian) food.

oh really, then how will people drive nanos? Or there is some magic wand by which we can have everything, food, car, ecology, as destiny's blessed children?

Akira,

Sorry for the shameless plug, but...perhaps you'd like to weigh in / vote on the bio fuels debate at my new site called BioFoolish? You'll find it here: http://www.biofoolish.com.

Thanks!
