China's String of Pearls

China is continuing to advance its infamous String of Pearls strategy, according to B Raman. This is their goal of building multiple bases along the Indian Ocean region, starting with Pakistan's Gwadar, and now continuing with Sitwe in Burma, and Hambantota in Sri Lanka. Basically, they'll have us surrounded, and their access to the Gulf and the Indian Ocean secured. I wouldn't be surprised if they're backing the Muslim insurgency in the South of Thailand, which is a known US ally. I also wouldn't be surprised if Pakistan's sudden aggressive help to Colombo against the LTTE is for the purpose of accelerating China's ingress into Sri Lanka, not to mention pushing LTTE into Tamil Nadu.
