Be at it NSG or otherwise China and some other countries, always equating India with Pakistan. Members of the Strategic Affairs Community must, in their writings and words, always place India as an emerging power whose reach goes far beyond the India Sub-Continent. This will help the government to continue to think that way.
1. An old friends is better than 2 new ones. Putin expresses impatience with the slow progress of Russia's relations with India. by Raj C 23.6.16  http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/india-russia-vladimir-putin-nsg/1/698812.html
2. Why Buddha smiling 24.6.16 by shekhar gupta "Postscript: Why was the code word to announce the success of Pokharan-1 in 1974 "Buddha is smiling"? My friend and former colleague Vinay Sitapati (look for his fine biography of P V Narasimha Rao, Half-Lion, next week) finds the answer in his research. It seems Raja Ramanna was also aware of the history of Vaishali's destruction by Magadha. The legend is, Buddha was upset about it and thought the war could have been avoided if Vaishali too had deterrent military power rather than its so-called direct democracy so nobody would take hard decisions. "You can only have peace between equally strong or equally weak nations," he is supposed to have said; that's why Ramanna told Indira Gandhi "Buddha is smiling" as India had acquired its deterrence."

My take – I hope that India continues to maintain close ties with Russia. She cannot afford a Russia China nexus working against her.

My take – Before Modi last visit to Russia for annual summit, I think, the Cabinet had cleared S 400 purchase but there was no indication of price. Has anything moved post that visit by Modi?

'Next door to Myanmar through which India finds the only gateway to ASEAN, Thailand's importance to India's Act East policy is too significant to be overlooked. This is complemented by Thailand's Look West policy.'
