WSJ: peggy noonan on how to save the vatican. actually it'd be better to burn it down

apr 17th, 2010

more good stuff about the crimes of the padres. this must be the most wicked MNC in the world, in addition to being the oldest, largest and richest. there are stories on the internet of the gross sexual misconduct of popes in medieval times, including their incestuous sexual relations with their own children! i am not sure how true these are, but i am sure there is a large element of truth.

the vatican should go. it is a figment of history that has outlived any usefulness it ever had. it is now just a mechanism for perpetuating a huge hoax and a way of extracting money from the public. i am not sure if it ever was any different, but for a long time there was nobody saying 'the emperor has no clothes'. now there are.

unfortunately, i think noonan is right. the storm has broken, and the padres and ratzy have weathered it. they will sweep all the scandals under the rug unless diligent lawyers keep bringing them up.

now that's a thought. if there is a crew that makes trial lawyers look good, it has to be the godmen of the vatican.

It is a sad comment on human nature that it excuses people everything but sex. So many serious crimes and excesses do not cause as much damage to reputation as one shenannigan.

Off topic:- India now has 100 million more people living below the poverty line than in 2004, according to official estimates released on Sunday.

(Don't worry, Rahul baba will become PM and will lift us from this mess)

Anand, we're talking about child molestation, here. That's not a mere shenanigan. So, yes, pedophilia should be treated as a crime of utmost severity against the innocent.
