At this point, the best thing for Sharif would be to keep opposing these hardline protesters, who are essentially minions unleashed by the Army, and not relent until the Army directly overthrows him:

At that point, Sharif will have the complete moral highground, and the military dictatorship will face economic sanctions and isolation until Sharif is returned to power.
