Well, there's some street talk that it seems only the Hindus have money now in the US thanks to their "stingy" ways of saving money. And since most others are all but bankrupt everyone's after it.
Even as hindu dharma gets wiped out in india itself (thanks to rabid proselytisation, islamic hegemony and hindu's own pusillanimity), it is finding itself having some sort of resurgence in a 'free market' (the US) where customers can compare and contrast products (religions and ideologies, in this case) and can vote with their feet.
This is why, sub prime or no sub prime, if america holds onto the values of its founding fathers, it will continue to be a superpower -- for it has created enduring values and institutions that uphold people's rights to choose and to make informed decisions. Of course, obama may want to change all that.
So called shoooparpaawars like india, built on pillars of sand (and pseudosecularism) can only hope.
