the end of fish?

aug 3rd, 2009

the end of fish like hilsa?
not so fast
hope latter is right. karimeen ki jai!

i posted the original scary article here before about the extinction of all commercial fish by 2048, glad it's not so bad.

but kanchan's experience with hilsa is being replicated with all sorts of other fish, eg. neymeen (seerfish) and choora (tuna) in kerala. they are catching smaller and smaller fish, and some tasty varieties are extinct, and are being replaced by things that would have been discarded in the past as undesirable stuff.

good. Never cared for stinky smelly fish even though I eat meat occasionally.

yo, food-nazi, you can't comment without prejudice on something you have never experienced :-)

there is the story of adi sankara being stymied by someone who pointed out that as a brahmachari he couldn't possibly know about the experience of a householder.

if you haven't ever tasted good bluefin tuna sashimi (yup, the raw variety), you haven't lived, man :-) japanese food is the best!
