i have found that i too have stopped reading books. i read only articles and short pieces. i listen to podcasts for information.
this is exactly like when we habitually use GPS systems we lose the ability to read maps or navigate by dead reckoning.
rather a scary thought. we *are* evolving, in strange and unpredictable ways.
i too always thought scene in 2001 was brilliant, and indeed HAL is far more human that keir dullea (great name), who is really robot-like.
