easy fusion seems very far off still. i had hoped sonofusion was feasible. cold fusion also seems pretty unlikely still.
fission is dirty and inherently dangerous. nuclear power, in my opinion, is the wrong thing to chase.
rusi taleyarkhan is an iit madras graduate. i give him the benefit of the doubt; i doubt if he was deliberately unethical

I don't think there's anything regarding "ethics," as far Dr. Taleyarkhan is concerned, in this case. I've been following this case closely since 2002, and the only unethical actions I've seen are those committed by the detractors.
I've found that Dr. Taleyarkhan's contributions to the nuclear engineering field extend FAR beyond simply bubble fusion. It's ludicrous to even THINK he would have resorted to unethical behavior just to get a paper out. That is why such a prestigious journal ("Science") had even published his initial paper.
Also, there's NOTHING to say that Dr. Taleyarkhan's technology doesn't work; in fact, no one has yet been able to disprove it. All the facts and data are there, and for those who still cling to the argument of its irreproducibility, those claims have long since been debunked.
It seems Taleyarkhan's technology hasn't been allowed to progress any further than that, due to these impetuous whistle blowers smothering all positive results.
And the positive research results have been smothered because this technology is BIG NEWS--even been dubbed the "holy grail to physics." Wouldn't YOU like in on it?
I'm convinced that, as a US general who had been witness to the positive results of Taleyarkhan's work had said, that the public is seeing is a classic example of sour grapes. Those in power, and Taleyarkhan's competitors in the science world, are put off because their names aren't first on the patent rights, and they don't get their share of the fame, so they're settling for this: fifteen minutes at-a-time of derogatory fame, but fame nonetheless.
There's even a published rebuttal of Taleyarkhan's (not circulated as profoundly, hmm...I wonder why that is???), which shows the signatures of the DETRACTORS, yes the very people who are screaming out misconduct, attesting to the occurrence of FUSION right there in Taleyarkhan's lab.
Look deeper, there's only one side of the story being brought to the public's attention, and you have to really search to piece it together. I was really surprised myself.
The evidence will show that the real frauds are those accusers now probably breaking out the champaign for another successful defamation.
randy, so why don't you go ahead and post rusi taleyarkhan's rebuttal and any other evidence that shows he's being vilified unfairly? we'd like to see that and we'll do what we can to publicize it.
Taleyarkhan has done nothing wrong. The charges against him are nonsense. They have been trumped by academic rivals and by people who despite cold fusion, such as Congressman Miller and Robert Park. See:
http://www.lenr-canr.org/News.htm
Taleyarkhan's effect has nothing to do with the Flieschmann Pons effect, but people like Robert Park think it is the same thing, and they attack and vilify anyone who makes any claim of this nature. Thousands of scientists worldwide, in over 200 major laboratories such as Los Alamos and BARC have confirmed cold fusion again and again, and they have published 3,000 papers. The Fleischmann Pons effect is real beyond any shadow of a doubt. It has produced temperatures and power density as high as a fission reactor, with no input power. If it can be controlled, it will rapidly replace all sources of energy. But none of this will happen if the suppression of academic freedom and the rabid personal attacks against the researchers continue.

Sure thing. I had read about it in an article from the New Energy Times.
In fact, a Mr. Steve Krivit, leading investigative journalist from the New Energy Times, had put together an entire packet of this work.
Really opened my eyes. I'll post the URL:
newenergytimes.com/contact/contact.htm#founder. You will need to click on the link titled: "The New Energy Times Special Report on Bubble Fusion/Sonofusion."
This will take you to the packet put together by Mr. Krivit. There, one will be able to debunk any and all charges against Dr. Taleyarkhan.
It is simply amazing when you see the facts.
