What is confusing in this whole adani saga is this - Adani by any account has to be an extremely capable operator - amount of wealth built in one generation, especially with infrastructure as the primary vehicle, in an environment like India requires exceptional skill set, so how come they are not able to manage the media environment? Adani is supposed to be a Sharad Pawar guy - and Kaka Pawar controls the Bombay media, so why is Adani the punching bag. If one believes the indictment - they have been extremely sloppy in bribing. Now consider the primary receiver - Rajashekhar Reddy pioneered the whole corporate investment bribing model in India, which has since copied by every one else. So one would think YSRCP would be quite smart in ensuring that they can't be caught. The indictment has G Adani himself talking about bribe distributions. Somehow the whole thing does not square up.
Bribes or not, since these projects are intertwined with geo-politics, this is a wake up call for India to diversify beyond the Adani conglomerate. Or, if possible, make this group more hydra-structured to avoid single-point-of-failure.
San, the reason is that the media is being powered by the deep state AND the Hans. they are attacking adani because infra is one of india's biggest weaknesses.
