India is facing a water crisis, due to its ever-thirstier agrarianists - another argument in support of industrialization which can allow more people to earn better livelihoods while consuming less natural resources than farming allows:

And of course treaties like the Indus Waters Treaty are all about ensuring Pakistan's access to water, but make no effort to support India's water rights, especially as a downstream lower riparian state to rivers coming from Chinese-controlled territory.
