someone complained that i had posted their comment publicly on the blog, for fear that he/she would be targeted by unknown people.
please understand that this is the default option. if you comment, the assumption is that it is for public consumption, unless you explicitly state "please don't post this", but then that sorts of defeats the purpose, because your comment is meant to be broadcast.
it is difficult for the blog admin to keep track of whose comments should not be posted, and whose should.
we welcome comments, they will be published unless they are spam or abusive or an explicit request is made to keep them private. this has been the practice on this blog for 10 years, and it's not clear there's any good reason to change this.
