Sreedharan's deep interest in scriptures such as Sreemad Bhaagavatam, the Upanishads and Yoga Vasistha Ramayana drove him to pursue a correspondence course in Sanskrit from the Vishwasamskrita Prathistanam -  Samskrita Bharathi in Kerala. "It is only after retirement that I get time for my personal interests, " says Sreedharan.
