Cabinet okays "pro-women" divorce clause

Maybe not an entirely suitable post for this blog, but things like this confirm more and more that this is no country for General Category, Hindu, middle-class males.

Bowing to pressure from women's activists, the government has made some crucial amendments to divorce laws, giving women half a share in the husband's residential property irrespective of whether it was acquired before or during the marriage. The amendment was cleared by the Union Cabinet on Thursday.
Those with Y chromosomes who are unmarried may consider pre-nuptial agreements when the wedding bells toll.

Don't know how it works in India but North America pre nuptial agreements are routinely thrown out by the courts if the judge thinks they are "unfair" (code for saying that the women isn't able to loot enough).

one more sinister attempt to destroy families the bedrock of indian society.. already indian family laws are notoriously and ominously one sided.. with these kind of laws.. why would anybody want to marry?..not surprisingly most of these "women groups" are supported by USAID...
