Editorial: Saluting Swatantraya Veer Savarkar
The Editorial Team
He was a great revolutionary and an uncompromising nationalist. A powerful orator, Sawarkar was also known for his zeal for social reforms and social unity. Apart from penning the book "Hindutva: Who is a Hindu?" defining the ideological contours of the Indian national movement he authored several books including "Mazi Janmathep" (My Life Sentence), and most famously "1857 - The First War of Independence". Another noted book was "Kale Pani" (similar to Life Sentence, but on the island prison on the Andamans), which reflected the treatment of Indian freedom fighters by the British.

A Proclamation of Jihad Called Direct Action
shiv_shakti_ii.jpgDr. Shiv Shakti
The partition of India resulted in formation of Pakistan on 14 August 2010. The events which culminated to the partition was soaked in blood of innocents who were uprooted from the land of their ancestors and subjected to untold miseries and humiliations. In the series of such gory incidents, the Muslim League's call for "Direct Action" was one in which Hindus, Sikhas and Buddhists were attacked without any provocation, killed, looted and helplessly forced to witness rapes and arson. The events of "Direct Action" should be given particular attention by historians and analyxed to assess the outcome of the policies of surrender and submission followed by the then Congress leadership and the conspiracies in which British rulers were equal partners. The Muslim League, after refusing to accept the plan of the Cabinet Mission decided to press forward its agenda by taking recourse to violence. In a meeting of  the Supreme Council of Muslim League held on July 29, 1946, at Bombay a decision was taken to observe August 16, 1946, as the "Direct Action Day" in Calcutta (present day Kolkata) for carving out the Muslim State of Pakistan.

Our Mindset is Our Biggest Enemy

The past is all there.  Before the glory that was Greece and Rome, there was a valiant, enchanting land, full of spiritual vigor and mystic wisdom.  Creating breath-catching wonders in sculpture, art, literature, Science, Mathematics, Astronomy, Philosophy, and Medicine, to name only a few, the ancient land of Bharat marched on in its gold brick road. The wise men of Bharat, the rishis, held infinity in the palm of their hand and communed with the Universe.  From Afghanistan to Burma and from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, their vivid dynamism gave the world the decimal system, the concept of zero, stupendous architecture, paintings, Panchatantra, Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Kalidasa, vatsayana, Buddhism, Jainism, Arthashastra, etc. etc.  The brilliant land stood out with the brightness of a thousand suns, against the backdrop of an ancient world of brutal empires, starved humanity and a civilization celebrating the stone-age

Say No To Mosque at Ground Zero
babu_suseelan.jpgDr. Babu Suseelan
It has been revealed that now Muslims in the U.S have planned to construct two Mosques for the area around GROUND ZERO. There were only 10 Mosques in New York City in 1970.  Today there are over 100 in 2001, including 17 in Manhattan. There is no reason to allow construction of 15 stories Mosque at Ground Zero. Muslims paid $4.85 million in cash for the property. Islamic leaders have not explained to the public where the cash came from. It is reported that the funding came from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Iran, the leading promoters of Islamism around the world. Muslims plan to inaugurate the Mosque on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Those officials who have approved construction of the 15th story Mosque at Ground Zero are not in touch with Islamic reality, and afraid of jihadi terrorists. Out of fear, they made an irrational decision. Citizens should not now sit on the sidelines and confront decision makers who make policy decisions which have disastrous consequences.  To do that, citizens must learn the past history of Islam, present terrorist activities and false assumptions on Islam.

A Fearless Intellectual Ram Swarup, Part III
V. Sundaram
In his article titled 'The Politics of Self Alienation', Sri Ram Swarup stated that in many Hindu intellectuals and politicians, "the hatred of the religion in which they were born has acquired neurotic and even lunatic proportions. In others it is more self-controlled, more prudently expressed and more profitably directed --- it is expressed with an eye to Muslim and Christian votes. Similarly, in some it is expressed emotionally; in others it takes on a more intellectual look. In Communists, the madness becomes a method and acquires a long-range aim; it becomes their necessary ideological prop which supports their aim of capturing power. They distrust all those who have roots, who have self-esteem, who have any structure of beliefs, any rallying point. They know that people who are ideologically and organizationally cohesive are not an easy prey to their ambitions. Therefore the people must be ideologically disarmed, their culture subverted, they must lose their self-respect, their organic leadership and their identity; they must be atomized, their internal differences fanned so that they can be easily picked up
