WASHINGTON - The United States has discovered nearly $1 trillion in untapped mineral deposits in Afghanistan, far beyond any previously known reserves and enough to fundamentally alter the Afghan economy and perhaps the Afghan war itself, according to senior American government officials.
The previously unknown deposits — including huge veins of iron, copper, cobalt, gold and critical industrial metals like lithium — are so big and include so many minerals that are essential to modern industry that Afghanistan could eventually be transformed into one of the most important mining centers in the world, the United States officials believe.
An internal Pentagon memo, for example, states that Afghanistan could become the "Saudi Arabia of lithium," a key raw material in the manufacture of batteries for laptops and Blackberries.

Religious ritual in a Bangladeshi mosque
A Hindu being beaten by Muslims in a mosque in Bangladesh. He was captured outside the mosque while going home. After Friday prayers were over, the Muslims came out and grabbed the first Hindu they could. Mr. Vimal Patak a Bangladeshi born Hindu was beaten to death with sticks as the Muslim mullahs (priests) chanted "kill the Kafir!" (non-Muslim). With folded hands he begged for his life and died a brutal death.

Remember those who died
Remember those who killed them.
Also
NEVER underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups!

Well, the world's only other major source of lithium right now is Bolivia, which is itself an unstable country - they are currently the "Saudi Arabia of Lithium", so now Afghanistan can join them by becoming the "Iraq of Lithium"
Muslim brotherhood in Kyrgyz... blood brothers or bloody brothers?
what is this mindless, endless urge to pillage and plunder the earth..
Gosh.. give us all a break..
For some lithium and some other metal, these guys will continue endless wars, killings and mayhem...
of course all in the name of 'peace', 'love', and human rights...;
This tyranny in the name of peace and democracy has to really stop..
Well, they went into Afghanistan long before this find was announced. So it's potentially a good sign if the Afghan people have the mineral wealth to stand on their own 2 feet, rather than being the basketcase of the world.
Come on San.. you know better than that..
With this find.. the last hope of peace returning to Afghanistan is GONE for ever..
Remember what you see in many African nations which sits on tons and tons of natural wealth (what is it gold, cobalt, diamond etc).. Militias and groups keep killing each other off and some MNC keeps making billions/trillions..Am sure u have seen and heard of 'Blood Diamond'.. I dont see any economic development of those nations...
Now with this information release about Afghanistan, Africa will look like child's play.. With all but 5 nuclear neighbors in a see-saw battle, in a religious tinderbox right in our neighborhood..
This is a DISASTER of the highest order about to unfold. of course as India sings hosannas to vacuous peace our national security I believe is deeeply destabilized by this find...
