nikki haley, tactical exhibition of christ-love?

jun 8th, 2010

i went through a bit of background on nikki (randhawa) haley. it's pretty evident that she was keeping alive her sikh connections -- she used to drag her husband and kids to sikh temple services -- but evidently thought that it was politically expedient to emphasize jesus-freak language just because the bubba/rednecks in south carolina would appreciate the spectacle of a pagan who had converted.

besides, she is the tea-party conservative candidate; as much as i agree with a lot of the views of tea-party types, the sad fact is that many of them are unreconstructed racists, white supremacists and bible-thumping morons. so to get their votes, haley has to play to the audience.

this is unlike bobby jindal, who has been reveling in his chrisist-ness, including his side job as exorcist.

anyway hope nikki (nee nimrata) becomes governor. not that it will help india/indians/hindus much, but it's good to have an indian-origin woman in that position. i believe she's leading in the primary today.

I have a soft corner for pretty women, therefore I'd like to believe that she is indeed an upwardly mobile politician who finds it politically expedient to pander to christist evangelicals. In the American South, there is a very thin line between "conservative" and "liberal" anyway. Jimmy Carter, the Democrat president from Georgia is an evangelical. While giving credit for her political compulsions, I do take exception to her poor choice in men. Just take a look at her Gora husband and the two fellows claiming relationships with her. They each have "Loser" and "Idiot" written all over their faces. I cannot accept gorgeous Indian women getting hitched to the worst
looking moron - who then gets paraded as a " trophy" just because he is White.

You hit the nail on the head. In my experience about half of the Indian women I have met are absolutely wonderful, well-adjusted, beautiful women with great self-esteem. and then there is the other half :(

To illustrate my point, here's a true story: two years ago, I had some business to attend to in NYC. I attended a networking meeting of one of an Indian professional organization. In any case, I saw that there was one gora guy there. Not to be harsh, but he didn't look very professional. He was not well-dressed, pear shaped, balding and had a below average complexion.

In any case, he was very friendly so he initiated a conversation with me. To make a long story short, he told me that he was 40, divorced, and I am not lying...he said he worked in "sanitation". He then went on to tell me that he liked coming to the Indian parties because he gets a "lot of attention from pretty Indian women" and that when he goes to bars "American" women won't touch him with a 10-foot pole. He had a bit to drink so I think he was spilling the beans. I have to say, he was correct. At least HALF the Indian women in the bar were giving him the time of day. He even ended up getting a few telephone numbers. I could not help thinking how shameful this was. We are once again selling our souls to the lowest bidder and our finest are furnishing pleasure to the dregs of the gora gene pool. Is this the end result of a 5000 year old glorious civilization that built structures that stand even today, people who navigated the seas, discovered and developed the most complicated mathematics in the world, and controlled 25% of all global trade?

I can't blame this guy. He's only doing what's best for his needs, but I also could not help thinking...would we ever see a skinny, coconut-oil haired Indian guy with tennis shoes and dress pants ever get lucky with a hot gori woman??? NO WAY.

I definitely agree. Ms. Randawa is no doubt easy on the eyes. Can't say much for her taste in men, but she seems talented and so far it doesn't seem that she wants to eradicate her Indian heritage. She's definitely no "Bobby" mowgli jindal.
