greg sheridan has been consistently positive towards india, arguing that the suck-up-to-china policies of this ass kevin "mandarin-by-injection" rudd are foolish.
but even this doesn't go far enough to suggest that the convicts are killing the goose that lays the golden egg, ie. students bringing big money; nor that it is misguided racist immigration policies are hurting them (whites only; arabs are whites, therefore let us bring in lebanese and other arabs; oops, we didn't realize these arabs are mohammedans and they get excited when they see our sheilas wearing bikinis). whereas brown, law-abiding and hard-working indians are being targeted primarily because they are identifiable and they are not known to carry guns and knives. well, that can be fixed. a few of the white and lebanese thugs getting shot by indians will quickly cool down their fervor.
also, someone was suggesting to me that this might well be part of china's nuclear strategy. get india and australia to be at loggerheads, and kevin "poodle" rudd will not budge on uranium, and so india is screwed over twice: having signed the "deal" and given up its strategic nuclear weapons program, and then not getting any uranium either! pretty clever, those darn little inscrutable chinese!
