i believe food prices actually inflated around 50% in 2008 in india, and they have not drifted back down by any noticeable amount.
i solicit others' opinions on this. what are you finding in your encounters with food prices?

Rediff has this article on deflation in India. So it appears wholesale food prices are actually declining. Must be all those laid off IT workers cutting back on grocery purchases at all the malls in Bengaluru, mumbai, pune etc.
