The Seculars are trying raise political temperature and create fissures by saying that the British Army defeated the Peshwas in the Battle of Koregaon on January 1, 1818 and claim that since the British Army consisted of Mahars todays Ambedkarites it is the Mahars who defeated the Peshwas. Some celebrations were held in Pune on January 1 and a prog on Dec 31 where Jignesh Mewani, Arundhati Roy spoke – Rohit Vemula mother was present.
