i think it makes little sense either for iran or for the US to fight too much with each other and it's even worse for india. in fact it's a good opportunity for india to be the honest broker between them, as it is in india's national interest.

india must not try to be a broker. the last time india tried being one was in 1990. it made rajiv gandhi look like a fool when both the us and saddam hussein did not take him seriously. that is bound to happen if india steps into this one.
in fact, there are many us corporations lobbying for exactly what you want. their claim is that they are losing business opportunity in iran due to the sanctions while british and french businesses make money there.
The US has reconected with Burma. They could reconnect with Iran as well.
