it should say the alleged birthplace of the alleged jesus. it is highly likely that jesus did not exist, as there is absolutely no proof he existed, just hearsay from church quarters, which obviously are not unbiased.
the best information i have is that jesus's (alleged) birthplace was 'divined' in a dream by helena, the mother of constantine, after he had become emperor of rome. yes, that's it -- no other proof was considered necessary.
and oh, by the way, a temple to pallas athene that happened to stand on the spot was immediately destroyed.
dreams are big in the religion of love. so are visions.
