Gandhi: A True Mahatma?

may 18th, 2010

interesting and wide ranging analysis. gandhi has been the subject of much propaganda, along with the nehru dynasty, so much so that the truth about these people has been forgotten. i have come to prefer my heroes in smaller packages:

major shaitan singh of 13th kumaon
sunderlal bahuguna
professor eachara warrier
e sreedharan
o v vijayan

india suffers from a surfeit of fake heroes, like the cricketers, movie stars, et al.

Hello Rajivji, I thought you might be interested in a series of essays on Gandhi that I have done.  In it, little-known beliefs of his are discussed, such as his idea that woman who are being raped should not be defended with violent force.  The essays cover his long period of loyalty to Britain, his racism, the Christian origins of his religious beliefs, his unusual relations with the women of his ashram, and his desire for the Hindus of partition to willingly let themselves be slaughtered by Muslims.  Also discussed are his belief in the equality of all religions, the true dharma of a kshatriya, his 'advice' to soldiers, and even the Aryan Invasion Theory.  Finally, I analyze the continued Gandhian influence on India's current political class.  Feel free to take a look - the link is below.  Regards, Agneya
