'Sexual Harassment As A Cute Boy Thingy'

There was a scene in '3 Idiots' that made a joke of the word balatkar (rape) in pun play. It brought the house down in theatres, but have you thought how much it diluted the implication of rape?

When Govinda lip synched to 'Main toh ladki ghuma raha tha', it started a rage of songs with unsubtle allusion to women as objects to be flaunted and 'taken around'. Director David Dhawan set out to make a series of similar films that thrived on slapstick and innuendos. Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt systematically bullied a cowering Karisma Kapoor in 'Chal Mere Bhai'

National award winning filmmaker Onir commented on Twitter recently "Popular entertainment has to stop portraying sexual harassment as a cute boy thingy".

Meanwhile, crime is outpacing our population growth at an alarming rate.

The elephant in the room is pornography: available freely on the internet and on the footpath for Rs 20/-. There is no such thing as " broadmindedness".

Is it enough for the crime? Is there even a statistical correlation between the pornography and rape?
In many EU fiefdoms smut is available and you can buy it with credit card, but the debauchery displayed in India is unique.

Maybe, it is encouraged by the recognition that law will never take its course and justice will never be done.

What alternative a victim has if police does not even register an FIR ? Go to SC for issuing a direction to police?

I claim that the whole purpose of Project Secularism, initiated by Nehru was to demolish the basic rights afforded to citizens by Constitution in order to perpetuate Dynasty Rule. The current situation is simple logical outcome of secularism.

Don't believe me, just google about how Mamta Banerjee directs police to not register cases of rape where aggressor are mostly Bangladeshi infiltrators.

I don't understand how that diluted the implication of rape. I have watched some parts of the film before but I guess there's more that I should see. Anyway, I guess it would be better to hear it from an attorney of sexual harassment.

When the inherent Hindu dharma, the unique cohesive force of India is thrown out of the window, we get what is currently India..

Rapes, corruption are manifestations of the deeper malaise; destroying the Hindu dharmic values of India and replacing that with "secularism"..Bollywood, porn industry DEFINITELY has a role to play in the mindless destruction of India.. just because it is classified as 'entertainment' does not make the impact of these industries funny or temporary..

Comparing India and Europe does no justice to the uniqueness and the brilliance of Indian social structure that has weathered abuses upon abuses for the last millenia or 2.. What work / did not work in Europe is no reflection of what works / does not work in India.. that is a lazy man's generalisation (just like saying all religions are equal)

Of course lets not forget that these days the Indian media have a single point sick agenda of screaming about rape in India 24/7.. as if nothing else is happening..
