Villages Suffer City’s Waste

Erosion of Kannada and the current garbage situation - two things I find quite alarming in Bangalore on this trip.
Bengaluru generates 3,000-4,000 tonnes of solid waste daily. The toxicity created by tonnes of garbage in the landfills has contaminated groundwater, impacted agricultural produce, given rise to unknown diseases and even caused deaths in the 15 to 20 villages that surround each dump.
